Release note: 13 October 2026

NZ agreements now cover AI in the workplace, you can ask new hires to formally accept documents already in their onboarding plan, and Canadian employees can complete their federal tax form as part of onboarding.

🤖 NZ agreements now cover AI at work

Our standard NZ "Use of Internet and Email" clause has been updated to cover artificial intelligence. It's now called "Use of Internet, Email and Artificial Intelligence (AI)" and covers access, acceptable use, personal use and policy compliance for AI tools. Voluntary intern agreements have been updated to match.

What this means for you

  • Clear expectations for your team on using AI tools at work
  • Your agreements keep up with how people actually work

What you need to do

New agreements include the updated clause. Existing signed agreements aren't changed. If you'd like to update terms for current employees, talk to our HR team.

✍️ Ask for acceptance on existing onboarding documents

You can now turn on document acceptance for attachments already in an onboarding plan. Your new hire confirms they've read and accepted the document, and you've got a record of it.

What you need to do

Open an onboarding task with an attachment and switch on acceptance.

TD1 federal tax form in onboarding (Canada)

Canadian new hires can now complete their federal TD1 tax form as part of their onboarding plan and supporting documents.

🔧 Fixes and improvements

  • Emergency contact relationship is now a drop-down list instead of free text.
  • Text pasted into the manual clause editor is tidied into a title and numbered list.=
  • Xero Payroll NZ: failed update emails now explain what went wrong, not just "Error".
